Yes, I think the use of 'begin to'...Hi Pam,
Yes, I think the use of 'begin to' and 'start to' is a habit, and once we're aware of it, we can break it.
When I first started writing fiction in the English language, I overused 'began to'. Once I was aware of it, and once I'd spent an hour hunting down and killing all the 'began to' in a WiP, something changed in my brain. I never used 'began to' again unless an action was interrupted.Rayne Hallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13992900621890391763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4422684351196031305.post-50747607872254222042011-12-20T16:30:49.358-05:002011-12-20T16:30:49.358-05:00Hi Nickie,

If my character is doing the action, the start is already implied." Now, if s/he gets interrupted...

I found the more I do this, the more ingrained it becomes in my subconscious. :-)PamelaTurnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10056906724326185672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4422684351196031305.post-34140675826570262022011-12-18T14:11:40.405-05:002011-12-18T14:11:40.405-05:00Terrific advice!
